When creating a lamppost in Cinema 4D I started off by using the cube object and then extruding this shape to create a more rigged shape for the outline of the lamp post. It was very difficult at first to create the right shape for the top of the lamp post, I extruded this object bit by bit.
Once I had fished creating the top of the lamp post I then moved onto create the the hold for where the glass would be placed, I did this by using the cube object and scaling to size so that the shape become of a rectangular shape. Once I had formed the correct shape I then started rotating the shape so that the object was then placed on an angle. I copied this object five ties so that I was able to place the object on each corner of the base.
Once I had finished creating the top half of the lamp post I then moved onto creating the center piece, by doing so I copied the top piece so that I was able to have the shape shape for the bottom of the glass to create a hold so that I was then able to create the pole of the lamp post by using a cylinder and extruding the shape so it became longer in length. I then created the base of the object by using the same method that I had used for the top half of the lamp post, This was a lot easier to do as y this point I knew what I need to do to create the base of the object.
Once I had finished creating that shape of the lamppost I then moved onto creating the light, I did this by using a cylinder and placing it within the glass texture and then creating the bulb for the for the light to come out from. I created the bulb by using the sphere object and scaling it to size tot that I was able to place the object perfectly on top of the hold. I then used the light tool so that the lamp post looked as if it was actually giving off light.
Once I had finished with playing around with the light for the lamp post I then moved onto texturing the object. For this part I used a dark metal texture so that It gave a real feel for the lamp post.
